Philosophically rooted in the Gardners Multiple Intelligences Theory, the program is designed to inspire interest based on the student's distinctive, intrinsic characteristics. Artists work interactively with students and teachers to individually design dance curriculum that will meet the unique needs of each school and the students' specific learning styles. The artist meet with students regularly over an extended period of time, to incorporate spatial and body awareness, creativity, performance and concept skills with targeted academic curriculum.
Students develop personally through this process by learning cooperation, exploration of cultures, risk-taking and self-expression. This program gives the students an opportunity to try dance in a non-competitive environment, often increasing their feelings of self-confidence and self worth. It also teaches them about taking risks to be creative individuals and gives them a new way to express and manifest their sensitivities. |
